For the avid mountain biker the Tignes' bike park designed by Karim Amour offers a range of downhill runs to suit everyone from beginners to experts. The funicular railway is there to take the strain if you don't fancy the uphill climbs. The funicular is also there for uplifting the thousands of summer skiers who come to Tignes to ski on the Grand Motte glacier.
Tignes also boasts the highest 18 hole golf course in Europe which winds its way around the picturesque lake. A great option is to buy a ski/golf ticket which allows you to ski in the morning and play golf in the afternoon.
Other popular sports include mountaineering,horse riding,rock climbing, hiking, adventure trails, quad biking, paragliding, sailing, canoeing, 28 tennis courts, skatepark and a children's playground.
In June 2006 a very impressive aquatic centre was opened at the edge of the lake offering a 25 metre pool, kid's pool, water slides and a spa centre with sauna/jacuzzi/steam room etc.
Lastly an exciting option is to head down into the valley to Bourg St Maurice where you can white water raft, canyon or kayak down a 24 kilometre stetch of the Isere River. Not for those with a nervous disposition.Whatever floats your boat, Tignes has it all.
